Viscobit® (Viscobit) viscobit.de — this is an optimized low-viscosity polyethylene wax with high thermal stability, designed for bitumen modification.
Improvement of bitumen properties without deterioration of low-temperature properties
At a dosage of 1% Viscobit increases the heat resistance of bitumen. The KISH increases, the extensibility and penetration decreases without a negative effect on the low-temperature properties of bitumen. The fragility temperature of the Fraase is maintained, which significantly distinguishes Viscobit from other modifiers. Such modified bitumen significantly increases the stiffness of asphalt concrete, reduces the wear of the upper coating (rutting), without affecting the low-temperature characteristics.
High compatibility with bitumen
The Viscobit modifier is well compatible with bitumen. It is easily distributed in bitumen at 120 °C and does not delaminate during long-term storage. A colloidal mill is not required for uniform distribution of the modifier in bitumen, a conventional agitator is suitable.
Increased workability
Asphalt concrete modified with bitumen with Viscobit makes the asphalt concrete mixture more stable on the laying line and significantly reduces the time to achieve the desired compactness. In laboratory and practical tests, Viscobit has shown good compatibility with the SBS polymer. When Viscobit is introduced into PBB, the viscosity of the resulting hybrid polymer-bitumen binder is significantly reduced (strength and elasticity are preserved), which increases the workability of hard-to-seal asphalt concrete. Thus, asphalt concrete can be compacted at lower temperatures, so it is possible to increase the delivery shoulder of the mixture from the factory and extend the laying season.
Environmental friendliness
The use of the Viscobit modifier allows you to reduce the temperature of asphalt concrete laying. This makes it possible to reduce CO2 emissions and emissions (i.e. increase occupational safety), reduce energy costs, and reduce bitumen aging.
